Prahlad Bubbar Gallery is delighted to return to Frieze Masters in London. The collection of artworks presented is the result of careful hunting over a year.
Exceptional Books figure importantly in this presentation. In André Breton’s words: “A paradise of books, a select few – in which the beams supporting the volumes should truly be sunbeams. They alone should form the phosphorescent substance of what we are expected to know and love, of what enables us to look forward, not backward and act accordingly”.
Some highlights on view will be: an illustration to the Imperial Hamzanama manuscript made for the Mughal Emperor Akbar, a codex for meditation ‘Cosmic diagram’ etched on rock crystal, miniature paintings from the Pahari, Rajput and Deccani courts of India, immaculate in their Vision and execution. Ancient Terracotta figures of the Mother Goddess from the Mauryan period dating to 300 BC, early calotype negatives, experimental photographs by Man Ray, and a unique and precious copy of a literary masterpiece L’Immaculée Conception 1930 – Paul Eluard’s personal copy with manuscript notes by Breton, Eluard, drawings by Dalí, and a magnificent binding by Paul Bonet.
A fully illustrated Catalogue with scholarly essays will be available.
